By Lisa Branon

Today I say goodbye as my son packs his things to go away to college. Oh how my heart aches.

Only a mother who has held their little boy in her arms while the world floated away could know the anguish of letting go.

To be given such a gift, oh such a wonderful gift, to hold and to cherish, to laugh with and to cry with is the irony of life. I now have to give that gift up... to say goodbye, to
give him wings to fly by encouraging the struggling baby bird to get up and soar.

I want so much to grab him by my beak and say come back to the safe, loving, nest. But such is life, goodbye my little one.
