by Jane Brooks

It all began with two big bellies bumping into each other at a Cocktail Party.  Then began the journey - Katie first, then Courtney, then Molly.

Every week they met before they could even walk - Molly calling Courtney "nutney" and Katie with her always effervescent personality and Courtney with her quiet-pensive demeanor.  What a bond they formed as did their Moms.

In the blink of an eye  we were packing them off to school.

Oh that first day seeing them walk into school - life would never be the same. Then Courtney leaves to move to the big city.  The bond grew a little less strong but the memories were always to be held:

the new little brothers

The Moms kept in touch.

In the blink of an eye  they were in middle school.

Katie at one school, Molly at another and Courtney in the big city. The memories became a little fainter but the bond was still there.  The little girls were growing up. Then came Camp Illahee.

In the blink of an eye, they were teenagers headed off to High school.

Oh my - the moms help on tight and kept in touch praying all would be OK.  Those precious little girls could now talk back and even act up on occasion.  The memories for them faded even more but the memories for the moms got even stronger.

In the blink of an eye those baby girls grew up and became young women headed off in all directions.  But the Moms are still holding on tight more to each other to give support in letting go.

Because in the blink of an eye they had grown up.
